Operation Chaos, Rush Limbaugh’s grand design, likely put Hillary Clinton over the top in Indiana. With the vote so narrow, Republicans who want the Democratic nomination to continue did their best by voting in the Democratic primary for Hillary Clinton.
Thirty-six percent of primary voters said that Clinton does not share their values. And yet, among that total, one out of every five (20 percent) nevertheless voted for her in the Indiana election. Moreover, of the 10 percent of Hoosiers who said “neither candidate” shared their values, 75 percent cast their ballots for Clinton.

So, instead of two Obama wins we get a split decision out of the two contests. No matter, it was clear that this race could go through to June, irrespective. However, the math looks increasingly difficult for Hillary Clinton after Obama’s impressive win in North Carolina. As a result, it is likely that many super-delegates will come out of hiding in the coming days now that the race seems all but assured for Obama.
Now, the question is whether the Democrats can come together after a long, bruising primary season or whether the two-horse race has permanently damaged the Democrats’ chance for the White House. I tend to think time will heal these wounds as the general election kicks into gear and the differences between McCain and Obama become more apparent.
