Recently, a lot of stories have been coming forward about so-called ‘pledged’ delegates switching allegiances in the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary contest. First, there have been many reports of delegates switching from Clinton to Obama since Super Tuesday, the most famous being John Lewis (D-GA).
Now, we are hearing that a potential free-for-all looms as the Democratic National Convention approaches if the raise goes down to the wire. Personally, I am pretty disgusted by the whole undemocratic process: the not-really pledged delegates, the super-delegates, the name-calling, the race card, the misogyny and on. The Democrats are a shambles of a party. If they don’t get their act together soon, they may lose a whole generation of voters and will have no one to blame but themselves.
